The assignment for next week is , as you are future teachers and some of you are already working in the education field, telling about the advantages and disadvantages of teaching children and/ or teenagers and also the advantages and disadvantages of teaching adults. Children

-They can believe everything you say.
-Any new thing that you tell them draw their attention.
-Their mind can absorb all the knowledge you can give them as an sponge absorbs the water.
Disadvantages
-As well as English can draw their attention because it's a new thing,is known that at certain age they aren`t worried about to learn because the only thing they want to do is play with their friends or their toys,etc.
-You can spend a lot of time in trying to order the classroom,of course it depends on the management you have in the classroom.
-They can be very influenced by the television,for example;MTV,which could be a very bad source of words,I mean they can learn 4 letters or rude words or a bad way to say the things.
Adults
Advantages
-They are there to learn,they aren't there against its will(in the case of an institute)
most of them are worker people and I don't think they would like to spend money in a very expensive monthly payment.
-They are open to learn new things and they will not spend time talking in lessons.
-The adult people who go to an institute to study english are very mature.
Disadvantages
-As well as thay are open to learn new things their mental processes are different
and may take a long time in acquiring the English.
-They have to work and not always they will be able to be in their %100 to learn.
-They depend very much of their job and if they can't go to class they will not do it.
-For them is more important their job than the lessons,because the lessons are in other plane.

advantages to teach children:
ResponderEliminarI think that the advantages for teaching children are a lot because children have a diference in their brains, they are in constantly develop, so for they are easier to learn whatever they want and the things that they have to learn.
above all if they have to learn other languages.
the disadvantages are:
one of them could be that the children prefer to priorize the external things in their environment, for example when they are in class, and one of them to throw a paper in the class commonly children don't pay attention in their classes, that is because they can see the perspective of life and things in a abstrac way and no in a logical way.
the advantages to teach adults:
the adults are more locigal to think, so they like to learn the things, for this reason they can understand the ideas that something are teaching them
the disadvantages:
most of the cases they couldn't to learn because their brain are in a diferent way instead the children because the develop of their bran were in the adolescence period, so at the adults couldn't learn like children.
on the other hand that is because of the ideas that they have and they don't like to see something in other way, for example when the teacher says a topic about drugs they think that the only thing or the ideas more important is that they know or they have and nothing else, so in so many times they are a little obstinate because it supposed that they have the idea or they are right.

ResponderEliminarIn my opinión, I think that the main advantage is the opportunity to participate in activities they wouldn’t normally get to do at home such as arts also play and movement are very interesting when you put in practice during a class. These types of activities can enrich kids lives, enhance their development.
Another advantages are that children are able to learn through play. The children learn not only acedemic skills but also social skills like sharing and how to respect others.
Finally, one important advantange is related with the their mind, because they can absorb all the knowledge you can give them
Children Disadvantages
I thing that one disadvantage is that child may feel out of place and bored.
Another disadvantage is the time, the very long classes lower the concentration level, the children lose the interest and have other interests.
Advantages to teach adults are
The adults have other aspirations or expectations.
They have another level of interest
They have a different mentality and are more responsible.
Disadvantages to teach adults are
It has to do with a process of acquisition of English because is lower.
On the other hand, they depend very much of their job and if they can't go to class they will not do it.

Advantages of teaching children and teenagers are:

2. the classes are more entertaining than the classes of the adults, because you can use flashcard and so on
3. the teacher doesn´t need a maxim degree to teach them.
Disadvantages of teaching children and teenagers are:
1. they don´t have interesting to learn and the teacher has to motivate them to study.
2. they can´t keep quiet, some of them speak too much or another run around of the tables.
3. they lose the concentration easily.
Advantages of teaching adults are:
1. they can be concentrated much more time than children.
2. they have interesting to learn.
3. they can keep quiet meanwhile the teacher is explaining something.
disadvantages of teaching adults are:
1. they ask many question about english grammar, pronunciation and so on.
2. they think they have the reason of everything.
3. they always have any problems to do homework.

In my opinion, I’m going to tell you my experience about the advantages and disadvantages to teach children because I’m doing my practice in a school and it has been a very nice experience.

I think the advantages to teach children are many because the children are most didactic than adults and this case we can to teach in a way like playing with them.
They make you feel like if you were the most important and the most learned person in the world.
Children have more abilities to learn.
There many advantages but there are disadvantages too for example:
Children don’t keep in silent all the time.
Children have fewer predispositions than
adults.
Although existing many disadvantages at the moment to teach children I prefer this option because a think we can found a lot of ways to catch their attention, for example in the school where I do my practice children are very very naughty and main teacher or guide teacher often he feels cannot control them but I have noted that in a particular exercise they can keep the attention.

Children: advantages
ResponderEliminarOne of the advantages to teach them is that the children have more capacities to learn in the sense that they can relate things and at the same time the children can memorize things too. Another very important thing is that they have fewer things in their minds, I mean, fewer vocabulary. so, is easier to learn new words and obviously they can internalize it very well.
desadventages:
In my opinion the desadventages are not completety related with the children and their capacities to learn. I think the desadventage is how do we teach them a different language, because we need to have some strategies to teach them. we need to catch their attention show them pictures, colours, etc. and of course, the classes will be better.
Aduts: adventages
If they want to learn a different language, with perseverance they can do it. the adults are more responsibles than children. they put attention in the class and that they really want is to learn and not to play.
desadventages:
The adults have a little close their minds. they don't understand that the language has modification, they are very embedded in the mother tongue and they are always saying that the english is spoken in an opossite way or the english is wrong or just the language shouldn't be this way, and so on.

ResponderEliminarI think a good teacher has to be able to face his own limitations,this mean if he doesn't have the skill to draw,he has to find another way to explain something to children or if he is a young teacher (My case),he has to make good use of his age, used topics based on music,movies,famous people,dialogues,rol play.
ResponderEliminarSo as a future teachers we have to improve our capacities to motive them, becouse it is the center of a significant learning.
I don't think that exist disadvantagesto teach anyone becouse we can find the best way that people learn the language and we have to work in our weaknesses and try to become it in fortitudes.
But all the levels of learning have advantages, children only have cooperative and collaborative spirit each other and with the teacher,they love moving so we can do many game activities,also their brains are in a phase of constant learning.
Teenagers are able to give an opinion about social,economic,police events.they have their own point of view of many topics,so we can create interaction,also we can use the sense of humor to create a good enviroment and finally the teacher has to be able to stimulate them to find their own knowledge.
In the case of adult people,i think they allows us to do many things becouse generally they want to learn by heart the language.
According to the class that I have attended of Applied Linguistic, I have learned that children have most capacity to adopt a second language, because they are do it in acquisition way (that is to say as subconscious process), the most time they are influenced by family, social interaction or context,of unintentional. Anyway, for the children is easier than for adults to acquire a foreign language.
ResponderEliminarOn the other hand when adults study a second language we are talking about or conscious process(learning). They do it by different reasons or needs, as trip, job, study, business, etc.
Both have advantages or disadvantages, but the most important is how do you feel in front of the group that you are teaching.

- one of the advantages of teaching children and teenagers is that this is the best age to teach them because the neurons are more importance to language math or science area. Cognitively speaking other disadvantage is the learning rate of the students. not all of them can learn at the same speed and to adults this is more dificult because their learning rate is slower than young people.
I could follow with this all night but a think these are the most relevant things.

As teachers we are qualified to teach the language in all aspects, overcoming situations and getting goals in our classroom if this is possible.
ResponderEliminarIn relation to the advantage of teaching childrens is that they acquire the language easily. If we want to teach them we have to be more dynamic and creative, throught games, songs, listening to music or watching videos, supporting this acquisiton process in terms of developing the four skills.
The disadvantages are: they don`t pay attention all the lesson and especially chils are very absent-minded, thus we need to motivate them, however this is a very difficult activity.
In the case of adults, we know that they learn the second language for specific reasons, such as, oportunities to travel, business, to study a career, etc. in this way they really want to gain it, more over, they have troubles to acquire the second language, because they tend to compare their native language above the target language, in terms of grammar, false cognates, etc. Fluency and pronunciation are also a big problem is this process of learning.
General speaking, the most difficult in this proceeding, is learn the language in a country that does`nt use it as a L2, thus they can practice english only in the classroom, so it is important to know that practicing is the best way and in our country often is not possible.

The advantages that you can get when you're teaching children is that you can learn to be more patience and you can get more experiences, and also it can help you to reinforce your english knowledge. Although children are not concentrated all the time so that may be a disadvantage but in that case it's important to have some teaching stragegies to make the teaching better.
ResponderEliminarTeaching adults I believe that it's a little more difficult because they do not have much time to go to english classes or sometimes they are too tired because of work or another things. A good advantage is that they pay attention and that they reallly want to know the language.

If you have decided study English pedagogy, i think you have the habilities or the enough knowledges to teach in all the stages, i mean, children, teenagers and adults, but the differences in the type of teaching that you give them have to be according to your capacities or your habilities in the way that you applie those knowledges.
ResponderEliminarin children for example, one of the most importan advantages to teach them is the capacity that they have to absorb all those knowledgs and all the new contents, but the disadvantage could be that you have to be extremely creative in order to your students don't get bored, you have to prepare many activities and didactic material for them.
now, for teenagers, you have to be even more didactic, because they are interested in any kind of things more than your class or any class they have in the school, having material according to the interesting topics for them, that's a disadvantage; now, an advantage (it's a quite difficult)could be you can talk with them and ask them in what kind of things is interesting for them, also the kind of activities that they want to developed maybe, but instead of, is difficult teaching to teenagers.
in relation to the adults, i think you have to be more patient than children, because they have a specific way to learn things, they have already developed a way to acquire the knowledges and you have to be more patient in relation to that, now and advantadge i think could be use the same knowledge that they already have in order to the new knowledge that you want to teach and the apply this new knowledge to the dayli life and make an easier understanding.
